Off to the ball....

It is that enchanted time of year, and after going through my mahogany wardrobe several times, I found this treasure. I picked it up in a London auction house back in June 2010.  I did pay a ROYAL price. Someone said  it was once owned by a certain princess. I think this portrait of my great grandmother must have inspired me...though I think my dress is .... well... it may be.....just a tad more interesting than hers.  I'll be slipping into this after I have had time to freshen up from the train ride from Auburn to Dublin!  I think we will be arriving in just a short time. There is a very special person in the compartment next to me. (And we know where we're going.) Be at the station if you want to get a peek at my oh so daaaaaarhling companion for this year's gala along the banks of the Scioto...under a full moon,,,,where the magic has a glow all its own.
Miss Willow is weaving another tapestry of music and dance and romance....don't be late, now!

You are as classy as your beautiful grandmother. Glad to have made your acquaintance at the ball!

Truly a regal bearing! She seems to be sitting and posing nicely for the camera, but I detect a bit of eagerness to join the party in her posture. I can't wait to see who your date is...

Is this really a portrait of your great-grandmother? What a treasure. And I love the dress.

STUNNING ancestor! Wish I had a photo of my great-grandmother. Although she was a pioneer and I don't think would be wearing such a beautiful gown!

Blessings,

Catfish Tales, Shari Sunday, Cambell Kids, and anyone else who may not be familiar with the great fun and fantasy of the Willow Manor Ball....of course, this is NOT my actual grandmother...I think she is one of John Singer Sargent's famous subjects...I will check my notes and add her ACTUAL name here..
Now the truth: there is, however, a great grandmother Rebecca Cameron in our family...but alas she belongs to the Colonel and is only mine by marriage .

And to Tess/Willow....I owe the idea of a gown purchased at auction...and quite honestly...when I read up on your first ball (2008)...in anticipation of "attending" the second one in October of 2009...I truly believed for a brief time that you had put on---not a virtual ball---but areal life one!!!

Anyone interested in all the fun should go back and read about those...and you will see how easily one can get caught up in the sheer magic of imagination!
