Simple Gifts

Golden Autumn watercolor

Eveningtime

'Tis the gift to be simple
'tis the gift to be free
'tis a gift to come down where we ought to be
And when we find ourselves in the place just right
It will be in the valley of love and delight

I have long admired the softness and simplicity of the art
of P. Buckley Moss of Virginia (my header is her Colonial Church),
and this beautiful and inspiring hymn written by Quaker Elder Joseph in 1848.
May you enjoy the beauty and grace and love of your simple gifts on this day.
Peace be with you.

The picture in your header is beautiful, like you I love its simplicity. The one entitled Eveningtime reminds me of Canterbury Shaker village which I visited last month. The Shakers gave the world so many beautiful yet simple things, it's a pity there are so very few of them left. Their ideals of doing everything, however humble a task, to the best of their ability were worth following. A peaceful Thanksgiving to you and your family.

Rowan, sometimes amidst the clutter and clamor of the 21st century, I just want to walk right into one of these landscapes and just breathe it all in. Thank you for stopping by.

Hello FireLight,

Yes, your header pic is lovely; very seasonal. And the other two are very nice also. I hope you have a warm and restful Thanksgiving.

The simplicity is perfect.

And now I know where your header came from. I thought the art look familiar! Hoping you have a wonderful day.

Wonderful pictures Marnie, so romantic. My grand daughter Gracie is tickled to see such a gorgeous dog who shares the same name.

Oh, silly me, I already put it up. Losing track now which is a very good thing I suspect. Again, my condolences for the tragic loss. My heart aches for his wife too who has to be so brave now to soldier on.
