Pinocchio

Yesterday, The Colonel and I took in the Loveliest Village Christmas Tour sponsored by the Preservation League! There was really only one house that totally qualified as a preservation project. A classic Southern Greek revival featuring original brick oven in the kitchen and large inviting rooms ... all dating back to the 1840's. I loved this house because it showcased the varied interests of the collectors in the family, and this charming statue caught my eye and my imagination. (Here is another cell phone snapshot). I wanted to rush home and watch the Disney film Pinocchio! It may be my all time favorite of the animated films...well at least it was yesterday!
Which one is your favorite....today?
This morning, we are off to another tour in Birmingham!

How wonderful to do that tour. That house certainly looks lovely too and I can see why you wanted to rush home to see Pinnochio! (I do love historic home tours for the feelings it can bring.)

Favourite animated movie? Hmmm. I would say, perhaps, "Watership Down."

BTW, Hope the rest of the tour goes well.

I would love to take a tour of old homes in the deep south this time of year. I can't think of a more lovely way to get in the Christmas spirit!

Good evening! I love your new header. Smashing and so cozy. :) I love to do historic home visits. My favorites have been in Missouri.

Hmmmm, I'll have to ponder on my favorite animated movie...

My uncle just bought a similar house in a little town near Atlanta. Those lovely old houses have so much soul.

I adore all those old classic Disney films. Bambi would be near the top of my list.

Hello FireLight,

If one is fortunate enough to live close by, we have the National Trust, which uses some of its properties and estates for hosting festive events. The grand houses can look splendid. If only we had one near!
Disney is my favourite film maker, I'd be spoilt for choice but I do like the 'Hunchback of Notre Dame' and 'Snow White' of course!
Super festive blog theme. I chose one for my shop blog, which you can see here if you like.

I wish we had the Open Houses and tours of historic neighbourhoods where the houses are lived in and decorated for Christmas as you do in the US. As Derrick says we do have the National Trust houses and other great stately homes and I'm lucky to have Chatsworth, Haddon Hall and Hardwick all on my doorstep but they are all on a much larger scale than the one you toured and don't really have the same atmosphere as a smaller house.
Animated films - I must admit that I love Ice Age, it's amusing, has a good story and a happy ending and that's about as good as it gets:)

Wonderful tour Marnie...I too am a member of our National Trust...as my youngest son put it when he bought me the subscription..so one old wreck can go and look at the others...I need to have a word with that child of mine....laughing.
Hope you and the Colonel enjoy future tours.

That is such a cute statue! I see Jiminy Cricket there, too. I love the song he sings in the movie..."When you wish upon a Star, makes no difference who you are..your dreams come true".
I have a tie between Cinderella & Sleeping Beauty for my favorite animated movie.
When I drive past some of the beautiful historic homes in our area, I like to think of who has lived in them and how they lived when the homes were new.
Have a wonderful Holiday season!
