Finally, a Club I Can Believe In!

This club was featured this morning on CBS Sunday Morning (click on title to view).
I thought I was the only person who had constant corduroy cravings! I guess you could say it is the Southerner's cashmere! Yes, we have and wear wools, but heavy cottons have always been favored. Among the many corduroy garments in my closet are skirts, dresses, jumpers, pants, shirts, but my current favorite is a red L. L. Bean barn coat. The corduroy is embellished with tiny embroidered pheasants: Very much in keeping with the fall weather. For the holidays, I have a few fancy and richly colored dresses made of beautiful paisley printed corduroy. The fabric is getting harder and harder to find. The last dress-worthy bolt I came across was a Liberty of London print on black. That was nearly two years ago.
Who else out there loves corduroy?

Save the wales! One of my favorite winter shirts is corduroy printed with subtle colors which I would not otherwise combine, but somehow it looks right to me. Wool makes me itch, so I'm definitely on your side!

My favorite corduroy shirts came from Eddie Bauer about two years
ago. Love them! Glad you have yours.

I love corduroy too actually. Used to wear it all the time for trousers but find it hard to come by here out in the West so I've switched to denim for that sense of coziness, if not quite a s warm on those cold winter nights.

Well, FireLight, it was soo good to see you on my blog. thank you for your comments. BTW, the next Xmas bod tea will be hold in Scotland if you missed that. now, exactly has yet to be announced. Stay tuned...and do be sure to pack up a lot corduroy (as if you wouldn't)!

...Looking foreward to hobnobbing with you at the Xmas Tea. :) Thank you for singing up.

I love corduroy! Especially printed corduroy. I was so happy when that came into vogue. I made my daughters printed corduroy jumpers and their dolls had matching ones! I haven't seen it in the fabric shops lately here.

Yep - I love it too. I always have at least one jacket and one pair of trousers in it. Corduroy used to be - in Victorian times in the UK - the poor man's cloth, and you could tell a person's status if he was wearing it.

Well, Tom, I would have fit right in! So glad to see you stop by here!

Corduroy is hard to find these days. Remember the fine grade corduroy prints Laura Ashley used to make? Sigh. Well, at least you, me and Woody Allen still love it.

Yes, sweet memories of it, except when I made a pair of pants and got the grain going the wrong way... Opps. rip out start over.

Hi FireLight,
I bought two pairs of corduroy trousers a couple of weeks ago. Ideal for the winter. I can understand it being less readily available for ladies clothing though.

I love corduroy too and have several LL Bean corduroy shirts bought on trips to the US and am living in corduroy trousers right now. I so wish we had LL Bean over here. I know they sell online but then you get the import tax slapped on at this end which with shipping makes it very expensive. Shall have to stock up next Fall:)
